2026 Diasporic Film & Food Series
Where Film, Food, & Culture Converge in Aurora
Held at The People’s Building in the center of the Aurora Cultural Arts District, these immersive events merge exceptional international films with global culinary traditions for nights dedicated to connection and heritage.
Designed as a sensory journey to bring communities closer together, the series pairs compelling stories from the diaspora with carefully curated food experiences—fostering cultural diplomacy and mutual understanding through shared meals and cinema.
The Experience
Every event in the series is curated to move beyond simply watching a movie. We invite you to taste the culture, discuss the narratives, and come together in a space dedicated to dignity and art.
The evenings follow a three-part journey:
1. Pre-Showing Gallery Mingle: Start the evening in The People’s Building gallery. View local art while enjoying beverage service and culturally inspired appetizers prepared by La Victoria Healing Kitchen in collaboration with local chefs.
2. Film Screening & Themed Snack Boxes: Settle in for a cinematic narrative from the diaspora. Themed snack boxes, curated to match the specific culture and region of the film, will be available for purchase.
3. Meet the Filmmaker Discussion: Conclude the night with an intimate Q&A session. Engage directly with the creators and hosts about the film and the preservation of global cultures.
