Menu:
This class demystifies healthy sauces and whole grains by pairing them in delicious ways. Students will learn to cook a variety of nutritious grains (like quinoa, brown rice, and farro) and prepare bold, flavor-packed sauces to transform those grains into crave-worthy meals. The menu below illustrates three versatile pairings. Each showcases how a well-made sauce can elevate wholesome ingredients, keeping meals exciting, globally inspired, and budget-friendly.
(By the end of Class 3, participants will have a “toolkit” of nourishing sauces – from herbaceous chimichurri to tangy miso-tahini to hearty romesco – and the know-how to pair them with different grains and veggies. We emphasize meal-prep tips (e.g. cook a big batch of grains, mix-and-match with sauces throughout the week) and budget tips like cooking beans with grains for extra protein. Overall, this menu proves that whole grains don’t have to be boring when you have a few go-to sauces in your repertoire. As one of our resources says, “I could top just about everything with a brightly flavored sauce – it’s the perfect way to make healthy bowls fresh, easy, and delicious”.)
